The Sunstoppers Scoop
The owner of SunStoppers, Laurie Utterberg, also known as “The Sunglass Lady” has been in business since 1986. She has become an expert in her field by traveling throughout the country and began her journey selling sunglasses at Trade Shows and Boat Shows. It wasn’t long before she realized how important sunglasses and eye protection is for those adventurous souls with a zest for outdoor life.
Shortly after arriving on Put-in-Bay Laurie decided to open a store. The island locals were very welcoming and helped her get the business going. Now located in the original “Sunglass Hut” location, Laura has a partner, Anne Spettel. With this addition, they are now known as the Sunglasses Ladies!
SunStoppers is known for their attention to detail and is a must stop shot for island visitors. Whether you are an avid, golfer, driver, biker, boater, or even sunbather, they will have the lenses you need. The fact that they specialize in polarized lenses help them stand out in the crowd. These specialty lenses remove the glare reflecting off the water. This is a must have for your summer trips on Lake Erie!
