Beer Barrel Saloon Put-in-Bay

Home of the longest bar in the world, the Beer Barrel Saloon has an excellent live music venue that’s one of the best in downtown Put-in-Bay. From April to October, the Beer Barrel is open from 11 am – 1 am every day. Live music begins in May on the weekends and goes to daily events in June through August. The Beer Barrel Particulars

The Beer Barrel Saloon features 160 bar stools, 56 beer taps and a seating capacity of 1,200. Even on a busy night, the bar employs over 20 bartenders and also opens two extra bars in the back and side of the building. This spot can get crowded but rest ensure everybody is being served. Everyone loves coming to the Beer Barrel! Its located right next to Tippers and also Hooligans, which serves up delicious Irish pub fare.

The Beer Barrel History

The Beer Barrel was built on the former location of the Colonial Building. This historical and integral part of Put-in-Bay History,  The Colonial was destroyed by a fire on Memorial Day Weekend in 1988. In less than an hour, the building was reduced to ruins. The Colonial served many an islander over the years with a bowling alley, dance hall and skating rink. Some say the land is cursed as the Put-in-Bay House burned to the ground twice. The Colonial House was built by one of the island forefathers Valentine Dollar who also built the Dollar House. The building was purchased by the Lonz family after the depression and was ultimately sold to the Niese family who are the current owners today. The Niese family rebuilt after the tragic Colonial Fire and today the building known as the Beer Barrel Saloon pays homage to the great times of yesteryear.

The Beer Barrel Neighborhood

One of the most popular ways to travel to the island is the Jet Express Ferry. It conveniently lets travelers off right in downtown Put-in-Bay, which means the Beer Barrel & Tippers Restaurant is only a short walk away. Also a great place to grab a bite to eat is Mama Marias right on the main strip at the Edgewater Hotel. Long known for their great pizza and meatball subs, this ate night favorite is a hit with locals and tourists alike.

Grab a bite before heading to a night of live music at one of the many fine restaurants close by. Hooligans serve up delicious Irish pub fare. Pasquale’s makes amazing pizzas and sandwiches (their breakfast is pretty amazing too). The Put-in-Bay Brewery and Distillery makes some mighty fine craft beer along with an extensive and delicious menu.
