Put-in-Bay Music Festival June 8th
The School of Rock, Cold Shot, Fuel on Fire, Few Miles South, Kris Lager Band and Bob Gatewood and Calabash will provide the entertainment for the third annual Put-in-Bay Music Festival on Saturday, June 8, at Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial’s
grass area across from the Dairy Isle.
“We have another great line-up of musical talent for this year’s music festival at Perry’s Victory,” said Superintendent Barbara Rowles. “We are again collaborating with our partners to make this an event that is fun for the entire family.” The National Park will open the festival grounds on the lot across the street from the Dairy Isle at 11 a.m. and the music will begin at noon. School of Rock from Farmington, MI, will return this year with a new group of talented young musicians to kick off the day’s entertainment. A national music school that teaches kids to play instruments, write songs and perform, School of Rock was developed after the
movies of the same name starring Jack Black.
Put-in-Bay Music Festival To Feature Variety Of Bands
Cold Shot, a Detroit Stevie Ray Vaughn tribute band, will follow with a trio of guitarists that mimic the playing styles of the living legend who is in the class of Jimi Hendrix. Fuel on Fire sets the stage ablaze in the third slot. Four brothers, originally from Buffalo, NY, and now living in Nashville, have been playing together all their lives. Their music is a mix of original tunes and some well-known favorites.
Few Miles South is an upbeat, steel pedal to the metal, foot stomping good time. This country group hails from a small Georgia town and the lead vocalist is equal to the musicians backing her.
In the fifth slot is the Nebraska born Kris Lager Band, a high energy show that has deep roots in Blues and Classic Rock with touches of Funk, Jam, R&B and more. Bob Gatewood and Calabash will bring the festival home in the final slot of the day. One of the island’s favorite bands, Calabash plays a variety of original music as well as many popular covers. Gatewood’s Put-in-Bay anthem, “Friends of the Bay,” will cap the end of another festival of music at the National Park.
Put-in-Bay Music Festival Food & Beverage
Two food trucks from the Toledo Food Truck Association will provide a variety of menu items this year. The food trucks and the beverage tent will open at 11 a.m. The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society will operate the festival’s beverage tent again this year with the bulk
of the proceeds benefitting the historical society museum, a non-profit 501c3. Personal coolers are not allowed on park property. The 2019 Put-in-Bay Music Festival will include a Guitar Hero tent, a craft area where kids can make a variety of musical instruments, a music workshop tent where all ages can learn how to play the ukulele, and an area where anyone can play the Battle of Lake Erie
corn toss.
