One of the most unique ways to enjoy summers on Put-In-Bay is parasailing over Lake Erie. Since the late 1980’s, Put-In-Bay Parasail has helped folks “get high” for almost 30 years. The Parasail stand is located on the dock of the Boardwalk Restaurant Complex on Bayview Avenue in downtown Put-In-Bay. Just two blocks down from the Jet Express terminal, you can’t miss it!
Parasailing Particulars
The original owner of Put-In-Bay Parasail decided to bring this activity to the island after he was inspired by a trip to Florida, much to the delight of visitors and locals. An extremely fun yet safe activity, parasailing lifts the participant up in the air by a rainbow-colored parasail. The energetic and passionate staff are let by Captain Jason Hill and all are extremely knowledgeable, taking the time to teach each guest about the ins and outs of parasailing. Along with Captain Jason, Kennedy and Joe will instruct and take the best care of you while you are in their care.
Choose from either high or low parasailing, a standard towline is 600 feet, but these will guys can give you up to 800 feet, so you can really soar through the clouds. Each light lasts 10 minutes. For a special treat, ask to be dunked into the water and take a refreshing quick dip into Lake Erie! Or stay up high and dry. Each towline can carry up to 400 lbs on a day with good weather, you can choose to fly in tandem with someone else if you’d like as well.
Put-In-Bay Parasail offers several different packages and deals. They take 30 action shots of each person in flight. A deluxe package includes a DVD of your trip and a t-shirt for $110.00. A regular flight is $90.00, and each flight lasts around 10 minutes. Everyone gets an “I Got High” sticker after their flight!
Groups are always welcome to try this activity out, and many would consider it a bonding adventure! Reservations are taken on a first come first serve basis so don’t wait to make your reservation today! Some flights may be canceled due to weather. This is a great activity for family groups or social functions!
Everyone is lifted directly off the back of the boat from the platform in a seated position, you land right back on the platform on your feet at the end of your flight. You can also purchase paddle board from Put-In-Bay Parasail!
In the Put-in-Bay Parasail Neighborhood
After your flight, reward yourself with a delicious dinner and a drink at the Boardwalk. This complex features five different restaurants and three bars! The largest is the Upper Deck. Enjoy amazing views of Lake Erie and reminisce on your flight as you dig into their famous lobster bisque. Rita’s Cantina is also a great place to stop if you’re in the mood for tacos and a margarita.
The downtown area is filled with fun things to do, from shopping to bars, it really has something for everyone. Some favorite bars include Hooligan’s Irish Pub and Frosty Bar. Popular shops include Lovella Boutique and the Carriage House.
On the weekends you can find everyone hopping from bar to bar, enjoying live entertainment, good company, and tasty drinks. Families love relaxing in DeRivera Park and taking a ride on Kimberly’s Carousel. Everyone who ventures to Put-In-Bay loves Lake Erie and all the fun it has to offer including Put-In-Bay Parasail!
