Put-in-Bay Watercraft Particulars
Put-In-Bay Watercraft Rentals has been in operation since 1992 and is located on the dock in South Bass Island State Park. This charming park can be found at the southern end of the island, about two miles from downtown. Weather permitting, they are open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Prices vary depending on the watercraft, time of day, and length of usage. They off a %5 discount for early morning rentals. If you like to reserve your watercraft ahead of time, visit their website prior to traveling to the island and book online. In most cases, you will find a Put-in-Bay Golf Cart the best way to get to and from the State Park. Reservations for golf carts are suggested.

Waverunners (Jet Skis) are fun and powerful machines that can take you from point A to point B quickly. They rent both single and double occupancy Waverunners. Operators must be 18. Double passenger Waverunners are allowed passenger switches so more than two people can enjoy the fun but the operator must remain the same the entire time. There are specific riding areas designated for jet skis which are explained prior to your departure.
Put-In-Bay Watercraft rents 12’ (25HP) and 15” (40HP) power boats that are fun for the whole family. The driver must be 18 or older and must operate the boat the entire time. Take a trip out into Lake Erie, you can even take some time to get a little Put-in-Bay Fishing in!
Kayaks are also available and are a good way to explore the island coast. They offer comfort and accessibility, gliding easily through the water. Single and double kayaks are available for hourly rental.
Reservations at least a week in advance are recommended and a $50 deposit is required for all powered watercraft. No refunds are given within seven days or less of your reservation. Operators must test for Power Boats and Waverunners, this must be completed prior to your reserved time.
South Bass Island State Park
This state park includes docks, a beach, picnic areas, and playgrounds. The beach is great for a swim on those hot summer days. The park has plenty of shady options, perfect for a picnic or an afternoon nap. The dock for Put-In-Bay Watercraft Rentals is close by so you can plan a picnic after your lake adventure!
For overnight accommodations, the state park also includes campsites and Four cabins that are located within the park and include an amazing view! Take in Lake Eire every morning while you relax with a cup of coffee. The park is also awesome for stargazing. They sleep up to 6 and even include a kitchen.
In the Put-in-Bay Watercraft Rental Neighborhood
Once you have enjoyed the State Park to your heart’s desire, as you depart the park you will find Saunders Golf Course on your right side. Saunders is a 9 hole course and is affordable. It is a walking only course no golf carts allowed! Rental Clubs are available at the office. Also, a must see in the area is the South Bass Island Lighthouse located at the dead end of Langram road just past the Put-in-Bay Freight Ferry. On your way back into town just past the Post Office, you’ll find the Compass Point Shops a cluster of small shops offering some really cool and unique wares.
