Put-in-Bay Airport Details
The Put-In-Bay Airport is made up of two runways. It accepts arrivals and departures from dusk to dawn and is open year around. The runways are in good, working condition, paved and modern, but not lighted. No departures are allowed after dusk.
Planes arriving can expect some turbulence on their approach to the island when the winds exceed 10 knots. Every plane must remain 1000 feet from the monument which stands 352 feet into the air and is located 1.5 miles southwest of the field with an elevation of 942 MSL. The airport does not offer fuel service, but it may be purchased at the nearby airport, Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport in Port Clinton. The Put-In-Bay Airport provides charter services, vending and restrooms. All major credit cards are accepted here.

Biplane Flights and Helicopter Rides are both offered at the airport for those who don’t own their own plane!
The World War II Put-In-Bay Biplane rides are for single riders or two passengers per flight. Choose from one of their fun options like a smooth scenic ride, an aerobatic thrill ride, or even a flight lesson. Fly along the sunny Lake Erie coastline and enjoy the view of several of the Lake Erie Islands. You can see South Bass, Middle Bass, North Bass, and Kelley’s Island.
These biplanes feature an open cockpit and are beautifully restored, making for a wonderful ride. The instructor teaches each passenger the basics and hands over the controls. The instructor an also perform as man aerobatic maneuvers as you can handle. The instructors tailor each flight to the specific needs and wants of the passenger.
If helicopters are more your speed you can enjoy a leisurely tour in one of the Put-In-Bay Helicopters. The Yellow Tour takes you along South Bass Island and beyond. Take in the coastal scenery of both Port Clinton and Sandusky.
The Blue Tour flies along the Lake Erie island for a view of all the beauty this area has to offer. This is one of the most exciting and scenic ways to enjoy South Bass Island.
